West Indies have refused to tour Pakistan due to security concerns Shaharyar Khan, the Pakistan Cricket Board chairman, confirmed on Monday (April 18).
Pakistan, who are due to host West Indies in September and October this year for a series comprising of two Tests, five One-Day Internationals and two Twenty20 Internationals, hoped at least the T20 leg of the tour could be played in Lahore while the rest of the series would be held in the the United Arab Emirates.
UAE has been a host for Pakistan's home games since the 2009 terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team.
"We wanted the Twenty20s to be played in Pakistan and made an effort but the West Indies Cricket Board have refused saying they have security fears, so the full series will be played in (the) United Arab Emirates," Shaharyar said.
It is assumed that West Indies' concerns could be based on the suicide bombing in Lahore on Easter Sunday last month that killed 73 with Christians being the target of the attack carried out by Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, the Taliban faction that carried out the bombing.
