DIVISION ONE

Surrey vs Warwickshire
Aaron Finch did his red-ball credentials no harm with a counter-attacking century on the first day of Surrey's Division One County game against Warwickshire in Guildford. The 29-year-old, replacing Kumar Sangakkara (off for CPL duty) in the Surrey side, scored a breezy 110 off 98, hitting 16 shots to the fence and two over it during his 158-minute stay at the crease. Finch, who scored 288 against New Zealand in a tour game earlier this year, was the lone bright batting spot in a day that was otherwise dominated by the bowlers. Warwickshire off spinner Jeetan Patel claimed 5 for 62 and was largely responsible to keep the hosts down to 273 despite the Australian's belligerence, with opener Rory Burns the next highest scorer for Surrey with 45.
Warwickshire who picked up three points for their effort with the ball, ended the day's play at 12 for 0, successfully negotiating the final six overs of the day's play.
Brief Scores: Surrey 273 (Aaron Finch 110, Rory Burns 45; Jeetan Patel 5-62) lead Warwickshire 12/0 (Varun Chopra 7*) by 261 runs

DIVISION TWO

Sussex vs Glamorgan
Jacques Rudolph (76 not out) and Nicholas James Selman (52) starred for Glamorgan after the visitors won the toss and opted to bat against Sussex at the County Ground in Hove on Saturday (July 2). Selman started the proceedings and forged two vital partnerships - with Mark Wallace and William Bragg - before Rudolph took over and powered the visitors in the company of Aneurin Donald and David Lloyd.
What could've been a perfect day's play was spoiled, to an extent, by the fall of seven wickets as Steve Magoffin, the 36-year-old, Queensland-born right-arm pacer finished with figures of 3 for 47. Stu Whittingham, 14 years junior to Magoffin, finished with two scalps.
Despite having Rudolph unbeaten on 76, Glamorgan will have themselves to blame as they went from 241 for 4 in 80 overs to 291 for 7 at stumps.
Brief Scores: Glamorgan 291/7 (Jacques Rudolph 76*, Nicholas James Selman 52; Steven Magoffin 3-47) vs Sussex
